The drug name KUSH is in circulation in our country and our youths are consuming it in alarming proportions. KUSH is an illegal synthetic drug, a lethal cocktail drug that is combined with various organic chemicals like Acetone, Benzyl Chloride, Chloroform, Ethanol, isopropanol, and some other organic compounds etc. to make KUSH highly potent and toxic. The youths in our country are currently being decimated by this drug.           Naomi. 63 Years after Independence and our country always on the verge of Econ collapse, isn’t time to review the current colonially inspired atrocious Per Diem System? Should the Spouse of a public official be paid Per Diem merely for accompanying his/her partner on official duty abroad? What is the moral and legal justification for paying NON-public employee Per Diem? Now you see why corruption is systemically endemic in this country. When they travel abroad, they go with more than 10-man delegation. You see where some of the IMF borrowed monies are going to? Our country is broke, Revenue generation is appalling, and we rely on IMF/WORLD BANK/ADB/EU for bailouts. Per Diem Needs to Be Looked at. There are more effective ways and they will curb corruption. But the reality is not just about football, Senegal's political and Socio-economic fabric is unmatched by many Sub-Saharan countries much less my country Sierra Leone. When Mackay Sall tried to dither and played with the constitution by postponing the elections, he was met with a ferocious resolve and backlash from the Senegalese people. Opposition parties, 15 out of 20 candidates including the jailed Ousmane Sonko and notable figures like Bassirou Diomaye Faye and former Dakar mayor Khalifa Sall galvanized their people to strongly oppose the delay of elections and to defend the constitution. They fiercely pursue the case to Senegal's constitutional council and then to the supreme court, and they won. We seek refuge from the harshness of the known through fantasies about the unknown frontier. Something quite similar yet the opposite happens for the thousands of Sierra Leoneans who live overseas. They seek refuge from the harshness and uncertain future of the known (our native land) through certainty and fantasies about the unknown frontier (western world). Remember, overseas Sierra Leoneans are the ones who left their homeland, family members, friends, in search of success through a much better utilisation of their talents and hard work. It was the other side’s (western world) fantasies of wealth and success which compelled them to make the journey. Many of the Sierra Leone immigrants in foreign lands found the success they had heard and read about western countries. Once successful, these overseas Sierra Leoneans never abandoned...
